.BooVirginia Shepard Buck expressed an interest in the arts at an early age with classical ballet and piano.  She furthered her dance training at Juilliard.  For thirty years she managed and directed a ballet school, created original ballets, assisted in founding several ballet companies, taught and directed the Nutmeg Ballet Branch in Simsbury, Connecticut, and wrote and illustrated children’s books.  She studied fine art with Peter Parnall perfecting her pen and ink style.  Her love for the arts was brought to fruition in 2011 when she envisioned and helped establish the Wethersfield Academy for the Arts in restored barns on the Old Buck Farm. The academy is now a fully functioning art school offering the ancient techniques of classical realism where students from many countries receive the finest instruction from world reknowned artists.
